Peter Meulenbroek

Dr. Peter Meulenbroek is an assistant professor in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders at Radford University and a licensed speech-language pathologist (SLP) specializing in cognitive-communication disorders. His research focuses on social communication and workplace reintegration for individuals with traumatic brain injury (TBI). He earned his PhD in communication sciences and disorders from the University of Wisconsin–Madison (2013), followed by a master’s in clinical investigation and a postdoctoral fellowship at Northwestern University. He directs the Social Communication and Cognitive Abilities (SOCCA) Lab, developing assessment tools and interventions to improve workplace communication for individuals with cognitive impairments.
Dr. Meulenbroek has been an active member of the Academy of Neurologic Communication Disorders and Sciences (ANCDS) writing group, contributing to systematic reviews and guidelines for clinicians working with individuals with TBI-related social communication disorders. He has also held roles with the Ohio Valley Center for Brain Injury Prevention and Rehabilitation and the Brain Injury Association of America. His work has been funded by agencies such as NIH and NIDILRR, and he has published extensively on pragmatic communication, return-to-work interventions, and telehealth applications.
